The principal of the school is Ann Holland AISTD who completed her training at Laine Theatre Arts in Epsom Surrey in 1988 gaining performance and teaching qualifications in Ballet, Tap, Modern and National dance in the ISTD syllabus as well as LAMDA acting exams and a diploma in Musical Theatre.

Ann is also the Head of Dance at the Bury St Edmunds All Through Trust providing dance education including GCSE dance to various year groups at County Upper, Barrow Primary, Tollgate Primary, Horringer Court Middle, Howard Middle and Westley Middle.AH002 (669 x 766)

During the last 25 years numerous students have completed full time college and university courses in the performing arts and are now fulfilling careers appearing in theatres in London’s West End, New York’s Broadway, on cruise liners as well as numerous tv, pantomimes and summer seasons both in this country and abroad. Students have also become dance teachers themselves and a number of former students now teach within the school.

The school provides classes in Barrow and Culford for all ages starting at 2 ½ with Baby Ballet. ISTD examinations are taken in Classical Ballet, Tap and Modern dance.   The school participates in a minimum of three Festivals (dance competitions) annually with students always achieving a very high standard. The students come away with medals and trophies and have qualified for the All England semi finals held every two years as well as the finals held at The Phoenix Theatre in London. The school has also been very proud to represent this area in The Festival of Festivals when each All England region is asked to choose an outstanding item to perform.

The aim of the school has always been to encourage a fun yet dedicated and disciplined environment where children and young people can learn to dance and perform musical theatre to the highest standard within their capabilities. Therefore even those students who have enjoyed their achievements purely as a hobby have taken with them, upon leaving, a skill and many happy memories.
